Tutoring Office

You are eligible to receive free tutoring at KCC if you:
  • Are an enrolled KCC student
  • Have filled out the Request a Tutor form (available online)
  • Are requesting assistance for courses other than those available through The Learning Place (i.e., English, math, biology)
  • Have met your class attendance requirement
  • Have met the prerequisite of the course
  • Have taken the ASSET or Compass Placement Test or another test accepted by the College
  • Have talked with your instructor

We do our best to accommodate all requests. It is important to note that not all tutoring is done one-on-one. You may also be in a session with more than one student in the same course.

We will be unable to provide tutoring for you if:

  • You have not met the prerequisites for the course you are requesting assistance for.
  • The course you registered for was not recommended for you by an Academic Advisor. We encourage all students to adhere to the recommendation of academic advising.
  • You are requesting tutoring for an online course, a telecourse, or an independent study course.
  • You miss two tutoring sessions without 24-hour prior notification to the Tutor or the Support Services Department.

Please read the following important information regarding our Tutoring Policy:

  • To provide the best service possible, it may be necessary for us to contact your instructor.
  • The maximum number of hours per week you can receive tutoring cannot exceed the total number of credit hours of the course you are being tutored for (for example, a maximum of three hours of tutoring per week for a 3-credit PSYC 201 course).
  • If you miss two tutoring sessions without 24-hour prior notification to the Tutor or the Support Services Department, we will be unable to provide assistance for the remainder of the semester.
  • All students are to behave in a manner that is respectful. Any behavioral problems by students are addressed under the Student Code of Conduct policy (outlined in your Student Handbook) and may result in termination of tutoring services you receive.
  • All tutoring must take place in a public setting.

Free tutoring is also available at The Learning Place!
